Portraits
I’ve been drawing and painting people for years and normally have a couple of commissions on the go. I love the hours spent in this intimate and intense pursuit of the essence of a person - looking, chatting, thinking, laughing. I never work from photos, so a commission involves an initial meeting to get to know someone, followed by three, maybe four, sittings. I work in oils, charcoal, pencil and occasionally ink. Notable commissions include Sir Anthony Seldon, Lord Skidelsky and Arthur Brown ‘the God of Hellfire’.
