Portrait Sculpture
I work in clay and cast in bronze, or make fired clay busts (much cheaper).
A small clay sketch will take a couple of sittings; a life size bust or larger will need six - eight. If necessary I will work from drawings, photos or measurements: the three-headed sculpture in the slideshow is of brothers in the 1930s - it was done from one photo and meeting them as old men.
Some stuff I’m proud of: the bronze bust of Sir George Christie in the foyer at Glyndebourne; clay sketches of Denis Healey and Richard E Grant; a bronze bas relief of Sir John Edwards shown at the Society of Portrait Sculptors; and a Residency at Glyndebourne making quick clay heads of the singers and staff.
